Cover the Uninsured Week - 2008

April 27- May 3, 2008 is national Cover the Uninsured Week, which was started by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to draw attention to the plight of the uninsured and highlight local resources available. In Genesee County, Health Access coordinates a number of events throughout the week to focus on different aspects of this issue. We invite you to join us for the following events. There is no cost to attend any of the events; however, advanced registration is required for some of the events as indicated below. Registrations must be received by April 14-please complete the online registration form or call (810) 232-4200 to register. Cover the Uninsured Expo
11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint
The following will be available: enrollment in Genesee Health Plan (must meet eligibility requirements and bring picture ID, social security card and proof of income); enrollment in MIChild/Healthy Kids, MOMS and Plan First (must meet eligibility requirements); pre-screening and application assistance for the food stamp program; free food giveaways while supplies last; free clothing giveaways while supplies last; free health screenings (blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, vision and dental); information from many agencies and organizations that serve the uninsured. No pre-registration is required.

The Business of Health: Understanding the Benefits of a Healthy Workforce
8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., First Presbyterian Church, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint
Learn about different ways that you can help to keep your employees healthy, and how that will benefit your business. Speakers include Ben Roof, A-Frame Awards; Eilene Frank, American Institute for Preventive Medicine; and Randy Jones, HealthPlus of Michigan. Following the presentation, at approximately 9:30, you will have the opportunity to visit information booths set up by a variety of businesses that can offer services to you to help keep your employees healthy. Breakfast will be served. Registration is required by April 14.

Community Caring Awards
8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., First Presbyterian Church, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint
Help recognize the caring, committed individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the community that support the uninsured. They donate services, time and supplies to ensure that those without health care coverage are able to meet their medical needs. Please help us show our appreciation. All nominees will be recognized and awards will be given to winners in two categories: individual and business/organization. Breakfast will be provided. Registration is required by April 14.
